BASILAN OUTREACH
Innovasians supported a social enterprise to introduce livelihood skills training and food processing to former members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG). The initiative aims to teach them how to start their own small businesses to help augment income while helping them become more productive citizens and contributing to the development of Basilan.
The initiative garnered support from local partners such as the Philippine Army’s 64th Infantry Battalion, LGU of Sumisip, TESDA, and Balay Mindanaw. Products such as chili-garlic paste, papaya pickles, banana chips, cassava chips, and various jams were among the processed food included in the training. This livelihood development program is part of the continuous initiative for the smooth integration of former rebels and encourage their role in community-building.
